Sophie’s Bears
During the early months of Ryne’s grieving, he wanted something that was his to hold onto throughout the day to remind him of Sophie. We had thought he was making a Sophie bear to sleep with, but instead she has become so much more than that. We find Ryne caring for his Sophie bear, playing games with her, and making sure she stays a natural part of his every day.
Ryne has not only taken great pride in his own Sophie bear, but he has made this his way of spreading love to others who have lost a sibling due to pregnancy and infant loss. We can only hope that your sibling bear will bring you the same comfort.
If you have found this form, you have endured immense loss and for that we are deeply sorry. We know that this time is very fragile. Perhaps you are finding us right after your loss, or maybe it has been a few weeks, months or longer. No time will change the strength it has taken for you to seek support, so we thank you for being here.
Our non-profit was founded after Katy and Tim Landuyt lost their daughter Sophie in 2022 and found very few resources to support their son, Ryne, who was 3 at the time of Sophie's death. Ryne would see Katy and Tim attending support groups and having a community to lean into, and even at the young age of 3 he knew he wanted that. So, after a lot of searching, The Landuyt's decided to create that community for their son, and in honor of their daughter. Siblings Among the Clouds envisions a world where all children who experience the loss of a sibling through pregnancy and infant loss, receive the love and support they need throughout their grief journey to ultimately find hope and healing.
By registering your sibling bear, you are joining our community, and you are giving your living children the opportunity to grieve while still getting to be a kid. Our organization hosts quarterly support events that are free of charge to bereaved families. Our largest event is our annual Soph's Legacy Loop, which also doubles as our largest fundraiser. With continued community support, we will increase support efforts for these kiddos.
Although we wish so deeply that your family didn't endure this immense loss and pain, we are here to provide peace, comfort, and community for your entire family.
If at any time you would like to be removed from our list, please just let us know.
